OMC OB Department achieves 99th percentile ranking for patient loyalty
Department receives honor for 5th quarter in a row
For the fifth quarter in a row, Ozark Medical Center’s obstetrics and gynecology department, Women’s Services, has been ranked in the 99th percentile for patient loyalty, according to information collected by the national firm Press Ganey.
Press Ganey partners with more than 7,000 health care organizations — including nearly 40 percent of U.S. hospitals — to measure and improve their quality of care. This ranking means that OMC’s OB Department achieved a near-perfect score for the past five quarters in a row when benchmarked against OB departments at other facilities.
“OMC is very proud to be a leader in obstetrical care,” said Chief Nursing Officer Marcia Robson. “To achieve this ranking consistently over more than a year is an amazing honor. Our OB Department truly has been proven to be one of the best in the nation.”
OMC OB Nurse Manager Joanna Patillo said a great staff, including nurses and physicians, is the key to patient loyalty. She said the department turnover is very low with combined nursing experience of more than 200 years.
“Our staff is extremely dedicated to quality patient care,” she said. “It is wonderful to know our patients are so happy with the care they receive here. We will keep striving to do our best to maintain this level of patient loyalty.”
Patillo said it is common for patients who have been in other OB Departments to comment on the difference in care between facilities.
“Many of our patients say they are so glad they came here,” she said. “We have a good team that is all dedicated to providing the right care, right here. They want to be proud of where they work. They take their work to heart and want every patient to have a great experience.”
OMC also provides some special services that sets it apart including providing a birthday cake for the family of new arrivals, providing a free meal to fathers and having a full-time lactation consultant on staff.
“Our patients really seem to enjoy the friendliness of the staff and the way they care for them as a person,” Patillo said. “They feel like the staff becomes a part of their family and many comment they would like to take the nurse home with them.”
