Dr. Holloway, Dr. Lewandowski join governing board Ozarks Medical Center is pleased to welcome Rick Holloway, MD, and Raymond Lewandowski, MD, to the health care organization’s Board of Directors. The 15-member, volunteer board is made up of physicians and dedicated community members and is responsible for the direction of the organization.

“We are very appreciative of Dr. Holloway and Dr. Lewandowski and their dedication to OMC and the community,” said Greg Beykirch, Board Chairman. “As physicians, they each bring unique qualities and experiences to the board that will assist OMC in its goal to provide the best, most compassionate care to the community.”

For the past 13 years, Dr. Holloway has been in private practice focusing primarily on general urology at the Urology Center of West Plains. He also serves as chief elect for the OMC medical staff. This is his second time to serve in a medical staff leadership role.

Holloway said as a private practitioner, employer and small businessman, he brings a unique point of view to the board.

“I look at the world a little differently than the hospital-based practice, as well as group practices,” he said. “That experience, I believe, will offer maybe a slightly different perspective for the board.”

Holloway said he is very optimistic about OMC, its employees and administration, the expanding medical staff, and OMC’s unique position as a solo community provider.

“I believe that our medical community is better situated to deal with the challenges of medicine than we may generally recognize,” he said. “We need to be proactive and ahead of the curve on defining our positions regarding changes forced upon us by organized medicine or the government.” Holloway received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University and his Medical Doctorate from the Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport. He completed his residency in urology from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

In addition to serving on the OMC Board of Directors, Holloway is active in the First United Methodist Church where he heads the high school Sunday school and an adult small group. He also serves on the board for the West Plains Christian Clinic, which is currently in the formative stage and expected to open in July.

Holloway said he is committed to the West Plains community.

“We love being in West Plains and can’t imagine living anywhere else. You simply can’t beat the people of West Plains,” he added. Holloway and his wife Sidney have been married for 28 years and enjoy ballroom dancing, especially swing. They have two daughters, Haley and Sophia, who attend Union University in Jackson, Tenn. In his free time, he enjoys participating in triathlons and bicycling. Also joining the board is Dr. Lewandowski, a family practice physician with the Medical Clinic of Willow Springs. Lewandowski provides primary care, obstetrical care and performs endoscopy procedures.

Lewandowski said he is honored to have been elected by the medical staff as an at-large board member and hopes to bring insight and direction from the viewpoint of a primary care physician. “I believe OMC is an essential part of this community,” he said. “OMC clearly provides more services with better quality than most comparable communities and is committed to continuing to add and adapt to the needs of West Plains. I am proud to be a part of it.”

Lewandowski received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Waco, Tex. and his medical doctorate from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed his residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Fort Smith. In October 2009, Lewandowski returned from a one-year sabbatical, during which he worked in a public health system in Queensland, Australia. “I have now worked in both public health and the United States version of private health care, so I have a firsthand insight into the differences between the two,” he said.

Lewandowski and his wife, Letitia, live in Willow Springs with their two children Cas, 12, and Abbie, 9.

Other board members include: John McCormack, MD, Vice-Chairman; Gary Duggins, Treasurer; Ken Joplin, Secretary; Christopher Nicholas, MD, Chief of Staff; Charles Morgan, MD; Kevin Gleghorn; Judy Ingalsbe; Travis Morrison; Roger Shaw, III, DVM; Marge Slayton; Travis Smith; and Bill Wood.
